What we are doing
30,000 Save the Children supporters backed our election campaign for the new government to make ending child poverty at home and abroad a key priority.
On June 16, African day of the child, five of Save the Children's campaigners, selected from thousands all over the UK, made their way to No 10 Downing Street to hand in our campaign dossier to the Prime Minister.
An evening reception was held at Speakers House attended by MPs, peers, corporate partners, trustees, other NGOs, and high profile supporters.
As a result of the general election, a large number of new MPs have been elected. This reception was an opportunity to introduce these new MPs to the work of Save the Children, and highlight our policy calls for the new parliament and the coalition government.
Many MPs wrote messages on our speech bubble whiteboards, supporting our work and policy calls and declaring what they would be doing to help end child poverty at home and abroad.
Now we have a wide-ranging series of events planned for party conference season - testing our representatives on the issues you care about.
