Unspeakable Crimes Against Children

Sexual violence in conflict

April 2013

The prevalence of rape, sexual exploitation and sexual violence against children in conflict is shocking. In some contexts more than 80% of those affected are children.

Unspeakable Crimes Against Children addresses key questions to understanding sexual violence against children in conflict:

  • What’s the scale of the problem?
  • Who suffers?
  • Where does it happen?
  • Who are the perpetrators?
  • Why does it happen?
  • What’s the impact on children?

The report looks at how we can protect children in these situations and identifies gaps in funding.

It makes recommendations to G8 countries to tackle these horrific crimes against children.
