This paper summarises Save the Children's research on the cost of coping with illness in seven countries in east and central Africa: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. It looks at a number of issues, including healthcare fees, geographical distance, quality of healthcare services, and the impact on households of healthcare costs.
