This teaching resource is the culmination of an extensive project piloted in 12 primary schools across County Derry to address the issue of bullying. The project aims to support schools in developing anti-bullying strategies through a process that is participatory and builds children's confidence. It is also designed to be a step in developing a whole-school ethos which considers children as active partners rather than simply as recipients of learning.

Something to Say assists teachers in translating that ethos into practice. It includes strategies to support children to tackle bullying by enabling them to develop a deeper understanding of their own feelings and needs and to consider the feelings and needs of others.

The resource provides a set of ten detailed lesson plans which can be used individually or as part of a sequence. The lessons are an exciting and interactive combination of individual, small group and whole-class activities, using art, drama, music, discussion and a range of other approaches. Specific resources to accompany each lesson are included, which can be photocopied for use in the classroom.
