Protection from Gender-Based Violence (GBV) during Armed Conflict

This brief paper outlines situations in which gender-based violence occurs. It  documents some previous reports and plans of action, and describes some of the serious and long-term consequences of GBV for girls and young women. The paper sets out the types of prevention strategies that are needed and lists detailed recommendations for agencies, donors, United Nations programmes and Member States.
