Save the Children’s Mark Your Mark campaign aims to collect thumbprints of thousands of people across the UK and Africa..
The charity, along with Janine, are collecting the thumbprints of millions of people across the world to persuade world leaders it’s time to take dramatic action to reduce the number of children dying each year before their fifth birthday, which is currently approaching a shocking 10 million.
Janine, who travelled down to London from Stirling, took to the plinth in Trafalgar Square today at 11 am to talk to her audience about the failing promises on cutting the number of child deaths by two thirds.
Janine also rode a Make your Mark trike around the square and encouraged people to make their thumb prints on the A-boards attached to it.
Ms Mitchell said: “More than 1,500 babies born today in Africa will die within the next 24 hours, mostly from preventable or treatable causes.
"We want millions of people around the world to lend their support and push governments to stop children dying from hunger, dirty water or treatable illnesses like malaria or measles.
The world’s poorest children are being sidelined and I wanted to use my stint on the plinth to highlight this and collect as many thumbprints as possible”.
