Join us at Keep the Promise to end UK child poverty

On 4 October Save the Children will be taking part in the biggest ever rally against child poverty in the UK – Keep the Promise.

Friday 12 September 2008

Keep the Promise 04.10.08The rally is part of the Campaign to End Child Poverty and is designed to hold the government to its promise of halving child poverty by 2010 and ending it completely by 2020.

One in three children in the UK is living in poverty. These children suffer from worse health, less opportunity and are less likely to do well at school. The government is on course to break its promise and miss the 2010 target, condemning another generation of children to the crippling effects of poverty. To get back on track it must invest £3 billion now.

Chris Parker will be presenting our eventWe’ll be gathering on Millbank in central London from 11.30 on 4 October, before marching to Trafalgar Square where there will be family fun and speakers.

We'll be joined by presenter Chris Parker and special guest Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

The climax of the day will be at 2pm, when we’ll try to make enough noise from Trafalgar Square to be heard from Downing Street. Please come and join us and make your voices heard.
