Kroo Bay TV News Team quiz Deputy Health Minister

Deputy Health Minister in the spotlight

Rashid, 16, posed more difficult questions on issues affecting him and other children living in Freetown's slums - this time to Sierra Leone's Deputy Health Minister, Mr Sheiku Koroma.

Tough questions

Rashid fired questions such as, 'will you give 15% of the budget to healthcare in Sierra Leone? For health is wealth and we need a healthy nation to develop.'

Mr Koroma called them 'tough questions'.

Confidence to speak out

For Rashid, one of the Kroo Bay TV News Team's presenters, meeting and interviewing the First Lady, Madam Sia Koroma and the Deputy Health Minister was a big achievement.

He says, "it gives me confidence to be able to speak anywhere. It's also important for children to meet with stakeholders and present our case as it's a step in the right direction."

He continued, "it's never happened before for children in the slums to meet influential people in our society. I'm so happy that Save the Children have given us children a voice to talk about issues affecting our lives."
