Kroo Bay's newest chief

Chief Alimamy Kabempa is Kroo Bay’s newest chief. Here he tells us about his plans for the community.

“It is my duty and aim to keep the peace in this community. This is what K’emba, the name of my compound, means - ‘to make peace’.  I want to make sure that everyone here respects women and children’s rights. Some people take advantage of children and abuse them. If this happens, I will intervene and take action because it’s against the law. I have told four of my strong men to keep an eye open for anyone who violates children’s rights.  I want everyone to live in peace, to not fight or cause trouble.  If there’s a fight, I will call all those involved to my court where we will talk and make peace.

I also want people to stop throwing garbage around their homes and in the gutters.  I believe everyone should be clean and take care of their compound.”
