About me
My exciting news!
My name is Kadiatu, I am 30 years old and I’ve just given birth to my fourth child - a baby girl. Unfortunately I lost one child to malaria two years ago; a three-year-old boy called Salu. I’m happy to have another child because of losing Salu.My videos

My other children
I have a daughter called Fatmata who is 14 years old and a son called Morseray who is eight. Fatmata is a good girl. She studies and helps me around the house before she goes to school. Morseray helps me fetch water. He’s a grown-up boy . He’s serious and studies hard. They both go to school.
My hopes for them
I want my children to study hard and get good jobs. I hope they will take good care of me when I am old.
How we earn a living
My husband sells firewood and sticks. I sell small things like smoked fish. I’m happiest when I have money because I worry about money. To feed the whole family costs a lot of money.
My first husband
I lost my first husband. He had a headache for almost three years and then he died. I’ve been with my current husband for three years and this is our first child together.
What I think about Kroo Bay
Kroo Bay is not safe for children. We’re always afraid of the flooding which brings illness with it. I hope my children will live in a proper cement house somewhere else when they grow up.

I hope you have the best life you could ever wish for, and believe me, things will get better.
I hope your children grow up to look after you! I'm sure they will and they sound like lovely children.

Your Name
Hi. We have just sponsored a child on behalf of our grand daughter. She lives in the Kono region of Sierra Leone. She is called Kadiatu but we cannot find the meaning of her name.
Can you tell us please?
May Allah bless you and your family and keep you safe.
Congratulations on your baby girl!!
Hi Kadiatu,
First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your baby girl, she is very adorable. I am overwhelmed by your courage and your determination to give your children a very good education and a better future. I am a single mother with two children (my daughter 14yrs old and my son 8yrs old) I live in Germany. Next time I visit Freetown, I will definitely stop by Kroo Bay to see all the wonderful people like your self living there!!

Your daughter is so beautiful and so cute, she looks like you a little bit! It must be hard for you and your children over there in Freetown. I am from there as well and I know what it is like there, so God bless you and stay strong and keep on praying to the lord. Amen

Hi. I'm Chrisi Shaw. I'm 14 and I live in Leeds.
What's it like to have to look after three children as well as yourself?
How old are your children?
What are their names?
What's your life like?
What's your 14 year old daughter into?
Does she want to be friends with me?
I would hate to be there but I'm sure you'll make it because you are so close to your children and you sound like a great family.
Hello
Hello. I'm Carla Timony.
I go to Mount St. Mary's .
I'm in year 10.
Where in the world would you like to go if you had enough money to go somewhere?
What's is it like other there?
How warm is the weather over there near you?
What time do you get up to go and do your jobs?
I'm adopted. If you don't know what that means, it means that you get put in care till another parent wants to keep you. I have 6 sisters and I have 1 brother, how about you?
I wouldn't like to be over there. I feel sorry for you that you have to go and fetch water when it's warm.
Motherhood
You are blessed!
I am 60 yearrs old and have 6 children.
I hardly see my grandchildren as they live far away and I can't afford ro travel a lot to enjoy them while they're young. Time goes by so quick
What an angel
Hi Kadi
You have a gorgeous new daughter, just gorgeous. I bet her brother and sister spoil her lots.
I have learned alot about your community from using this website and what shines out is the dignity and resilience of your community.
My husband is from Freetown and misses his country so much and after learning about you all, I understand why.
Keep up the good work and god bless you allxx
hope and happiness
I've just seen your photo, I hope everything will be ok with the new baby.
God bless you all
Dear Kadiatu, I am a Sierra Leone mother of 2 children (aged nearly 11 and 2 years). I am really touched by your hopes and dreams for your children. Please keep those dreams alive, even when things get tough, because your faith in them will encourage them to fulfil all those dreams and more. We are thinking of, and praying for you all. Please know that we in the UK are doing all we can to make life and living better for all in Sierra Leone. You are always in our hearts.
