What we're doing

There are 22,000 people in Kingsville - and only one, under-equipped clinic. That means children are dying from diseases we know how to treat. In the 21st century, it's outrageous that illnesses like diarrhoea or malaria are killing children.

The people of Kingsville were sick of seeing their children die. They asked for our help.

With your help we’ve already made a massive difference to children’s lives in Kingsville.

  • We’ve installed two water pumps, so families can drink water without getting ill.
  • We’ve installed a solar panel in the clinic so midwives can see during night deliveries.
  • We’ve provided a motorbike so the nurses can get to all the villages whenever they’re needed.
  • We’ve also trained 50 traditional midwives to deliver babies safely and refer women to the clinic.
  • We made sure the clinic was kitted out with delivery kits ready for the traditional midwives to use.
  • We’ve also given mother and baby kits to twelve new mothers (including Prince’s mother).

Now we’re rebuilding the tumbledown, leaking school so that the children can learn and look forward to even brighter futures

Be part of the plan

Kingsville holds a mirror up to the problems people face all over Liberia. There is relative peace after 14 years of civil war, but daily life here has meant surviving — instead of living — for too long.

Parents in Kingsville want to see their children learn, grow and look forward to their futures. Together, we are helping them realise their hopes.

Even the smallest donation or simplest action can make a real difference. Basic treatments and supplies can cost very little but still save lives.

We teamed up with The Sunday Times for their 2008 Christmas Appeal. With your generous support we raised over £135,000 and Kingsville is already a better place for children to grow up.

But there's still more to be done so please keep donating and keep coming back to see our progress.
