Due to the sensitivity of the issue on the ground, there is no film about the border crossing into South Africa.

This short film shows life for child workers and former child workers in Bolivia - the poorest country in South America. Meet Maria, Segundina and others who see the value in children working, particularly as this is a normal part of their family's survival or needed to contintinue their education. Many have formed NATS groups supported by former child workers, to make sure their rights are protected and they can work with dignity.

The film shows students what life is like for Child Domestic Workers (housemaids) in the state of West Bengal in India. Children, mostly girls, to the city of Kolkata due to extreme poverty and the promise of a better life for themselves and their families. The reality is quite different. In this film we hear Alpana and Panchanan tell their stories, which have a positive end due to local projects that help these workers.

This film tells the stories of a number of child domestic workers in Kolkata, India. This can be used by teachers to introduce some of the issues that domestic workers face. Reccomended for Year 8 or older. Teachers should watch film first.
These short film clips are used in india to raise awareness among the general public of the risks and rights abuses associated with Child domestic work. Teachers can use these short clips to highlight the common experiences of individual child domestic workers such as the eye to eye children.

A DVD of supporting film clips was produced earlier in the project. It includes: two clips on child labour, a film about a trip to Kolkata by actress Laila Rouss,
and a film about children working in Gold Mines in Africa - one of the 'worst forms' of child labour. If you use film a lot in class and are interested to use this DVD just ask us for it.
