Appallingly, many children caught up in the trauma of war and other crises face sexual exploitation and abuse by aid workers and peacekeepers — the very people who are supposed to protect them.
Despite efforts to combat it, the problem persists.
UN agencies, donors and NGOs need to take a comprehensive and coordinated approach to protect children, punish perpetrators and eradicate this appalling abuse of power.
