August 2006

Watermarks looks at children's protection needs during floods in Bangladesh, and the scope of disaster response plans to meet those needs. This report aims to:

  • identify the assistance children need in order to cope with the floods
  • outline whether and how the current disaster responses meet children's special protection needs during floods
  • identify ways of improving the emergency response plans in order to meet children's protection needs during floods.

More than 1,000 people took part in interviews for this study, most of them children. Parents/caregivers, community leaders and civil society members were also consulted.
