This report presents the main findings of the preliminary analysis of the food security and livelihoods situation of the flood affected populations in Mopeia and Morrumbala from a survey conducted in September/October, 2007.
December 2007
In February 2007, many communities that live along the Zambezi River Valley suffered a severe food security and livelihood crisis as a result of floods that led to displacement of thousands of people and the large-scale loss of property.
In April - May, 2007, the Vulnerability Analysis Group (GAV) under the Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition (SETSAN) conducted an evaluation of the vulnerability in the areas of Mozambique affected by natural disasters (floods, droughts and cyclones), including the districts of Mopeia and Morrumbala. The results of the evaluation indicated high levels of food insecurity and vulnerability in the areas affected by floods.
