- Can I pay with my Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) card?
-
Unfortunately, we cannot process donations by CAF card online. If you would like to donate from your Charities Aid Foundation account please telephone 020 7012 6400.
- What is Gift Aid?
-
Charities take your donation (which is money you’ve already paid tax on), and then reclaim tax on its ‘gross’ equivalent.
In practice, this means that if you give £10 to charity using Gift Aid, that gift is worth £12.50.
Save the Children will treat all donations that you have made for the past six years and all donations you make in the future as Gift Aid donations, until you tell Save the Children otherwise.
Who can use Gift Aid?
UK Taxpayers can tick the box, as long as they pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that we will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year.
Benefits to higher-rate taxpayers
If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can reclaim tax relief on your gross donation at 20% (i.e. the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate at 20%).
Non taxpayers
If you do not pay tax, you should not use Gift Aid.
