Volunteering overseas

Save the Children supports self-sufficiency in its global programmes, so we encourage overseas projects to recruit staff and volunteers locally.

Because we support self-sufficiency in our global programmes we do not send UK volunteers to our programmes overseas. However, there are many ways you can support us within the UK and dramatically help to save the lives of children.

Volunteer abroad from your desk: This is Kroo Bay in Sierra Leone (where one in four children die before their fifth birthday) and This is Kingsville in neighboring Liberia are two websites we've developed to give you an in-depth and interactive experience of our work, to help you to truly understanding the plight of those living in dire poverty in the developing world.

On the websites, you can meet some of the towns' community members, see their homes, check out their schools, hear their stories, and watch their updated videos. You can watch the community develop, and hopefully with your help, change for the better. And, of course you can get involved, help us to promote the websites and make donations to help save the children.

Give time in the UK: Why not volunteer in the UK? Join a local supporter group and meet other volunteers in your area. Or become an emergency fundraiser.
