Events - Save the Children Week
Save the Children Week 2008 went with a bang, thanks to thousands of supporters who once again gave up their time to raise money and awareness for the world's most vulnerable children.
Sunday 26 April 2009
Location:
United Kingdom
Save the Children Week 2008 aimed to highlight the injustice of the 10 million children who die each year before their fifth birthday and to raise money to buy life saving interventions.

With the money still pouring in, here are just a few highlights from the week.
- Our 400 supporter groups were out in force, collecting in stations, supermarkets and the street. Teddington and the Hamptons Branch raised £4,300 from their collections during the week.
- Our shops also joined in the fundraising fun. Crawley shop raised £400 from holding a music evening.
This year, individuals, groups and organisations across the UK decided to Go Tea-potty and hold tea parties during the week. Pictured below, workers at IKEA Cardiff, remind us of the 10 million children who die each year before their fifth birthday. They donated tea and coffee sales to us, raising £565. In Northern Ireland, we joined forces with Marks & Spencer to organise over 100 Go Tea-potty parties. Here, Belfast businesswoman and Save the Children champion, Brenda Shankey enjoys a cuppa with celebrity, May McFettridge who helped launch the Go Tea-potty initiative in Belfast.
Once again, a big thank you to all who took part in Save the Children Week 2008!
