Keep the Promise
Keep the Promise will be the UK's biggest ever event to end child poverty
Saturday 4 October 2008
Location: Trafalgar Square
The government promised to halve child poverty by 2010. They won't do that without public pressure.
New announcement!
We are delighted that Chris Parker, actor and TV presenter, is joining us to host the Keep the Promise event.
Chris told us: “I was saddened and shocked when I heard that one in three children in this country live in poverty. To put it into context we are the fifth richest country in the world! We all need to send a clear message to the government that child poverty in the UK is simply unacceptable. In 1997, the government made a bold promise to halve child poverty by 2010 and now it’s up to all of us to make sure they keep that promise.
Please, please, please show your support by joining me in Trafalgar Square on 4 October, we are not asking for your money just your voice!”
