Princess Anne finds hidden gems in Cardiff charity shop

HRH The Princess Royal recently visited the Save the Children’s charity shop on Albany Road to thank the volunteers for their continued hard work.

Princess Anne in the Cardiff branch of Save the ChildrenDuring her visit Princess Anne, the charity’s president for over 30 years, met Save the Children’s Cardiff volunteers and shop staff to hear about the Albany Road’s shop’s success since it opened its doors in November 2005.

Denise Williams, Save the Children’s Shop Manager for Albany Road said: “The Princess was brilliant. She made me feel at ease straight away and her visit was a wonderful boost for the staff who work so hard to make the store a success.”

Volunteer Yeti Jenkins, 27, from Roath, works as a chef but does around five hours unpaid work in the charity shop. He said: “Princess Anne was very approachable and seemed very genuine in her interest in what we do.”

Save the Children’s Regional Manager for Wales and the South West, Adrian Hebbet said: “Hopefully this visit will help raise the profile of the shop even further. We are always looking for more volunteers so anyone who can help should pop in to the Albany Road shop.”
