Sir Trevor McDonald, the ex ITN newsreader, Jeremy Bowen, the BBC's Middle East Correspondent and Sophie Raworth, the BBC's One O'clock news presenter all be played at the final of Save the Children's annual Corporate Tennis Challenge as wildcard entrants. The final took place at The Harbour Club, Chelsea.
Players from companies across London have taken part in the mixed doubles corporate qualifiers to help raise vital funds for Save the Children. The teams who have made it to the finals include mixed doubles from KPMG, PwC, Maine-Tucker, Paddington Sports Club and the Harbour Club. Players are encouraged to raise as much as possible through sponsorship and donations and some employers of the players have agreed to match the total raised, ensuring Save the Children receive twice as much money from the event.
British number one Andy Murray, said "Save the Children's Tennis Tournament gives players the chance to take part in a number of tennis events across Great Britain and at the same time help vulnerable children across the world. I'm delighted Save the Children has chosen to use tennis for such a great cause and I give my support to the tournament."
Save the Children organises tennis tournaments to suit most ages and levels of ability throughout the year. Last year over 7000 people took part and in turn helped children supported by Save the Children in the UK and overseas.
