Viva to the Diva at the Abbey
Concert raises money for Save the Children
Friday 6 July 2007
A popular south Wales ensemble will be raising money for Save the Children in a special concert at Margam Abbey on Saturday, July 7th.
Viva to the Diva is the collective name for:
- soprano Nicola Harris from Cardiff
- soprano Sally Kingsbury from Maesteg
- soprano Beryl Vaughan (Llantwit Major),
- mezzo soprano Anne Braley from Newport
- pianist Ryan Wood from Maesteg
- compére Tony Kingsbury, also from Maesteg.
The "divas" were formed for a charity event in 2004, and since then have performed at many fundraising events in south Wales and beyond. The ensemble specialise in popular operatic music, with many of the songs they perform well known even to those who have never stepped inside an opera house.
"Events like the Viva to the Diva concert at Margam Abbey make a big contribution to the work of Save the Children. All the money goes towards helping vulnerable children both here in Wales and around the world, and everyone who goes along is also guaranteed a great night out," said
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm and is organised by the Port Talbot branch of Save the Children, are £7, and are available by ringing (01639) 885228.
