What's it all about?
On Friday 13 December, people up and down the country will be wearing a Christmas jumper to raise money for our life-changing work with the world's poorest children.
A life free from hunger
Every single day we help children around the world to beat deadly illnesses and make sure they get the food they need to grow up healthy – children just like James (above).
Six-month-old James wasn’t like the other children. He didn’t cry. He barely moved. Malnourished and suffering from diarrhoea, baby James was slipping away. His mum Wargba was desperately worried about him.
Thankfully, Wargba was able to bring James to one of our specialist clinics in Liberia, where we gave him life-saving treatment.
Hope for the future
Although his condition is still precarious, little James is getting slowly better and Wargba is relieved her son is receiving the vital care he needs.
“Now he is coming on gradually. He is not sleeping as much. I don’t know how long we’ll stay here – just as long as it takes for my baby to get better,” Wargba told us.
No child should die of easily preventable causes or because they can’t get enough to eat.
Together, we can help more children like James.
Here are just a few of the amazing things your money can do:
- £29 can pay for a course of emergency food supplements to save the life of a severely malnourished child.
- £100 can buy 50 warm blankets for babies suffering from deadly pneumonia.
- £500 can train five health workers to identify illnesses and treat sick children.
