Humanitarian Leadership Academy

Giving you the confidence and skills to save and protect lives, and minimise suffering in humanitarian emergencies.

Who Are We?

The Humanitarian Leadership Academy is a unit within Save the Children UK that works in capacity strengthening, training and development across the sector.

We enable people around the world to prepare and respond to crises in their own countries by ensuring humanitarians and volunteers can access high quality, contextualised learning.

One of the ways in which we seek to achieve this is by improving the accessibility, quality, scale and sustainability of learning for individuals and organisations.

What Do We Do?

We help humanitarian organisations improve at every stage of their work: from preparedness to immediate response, to recovery through various online and face-to-face learning programmes.

We support organisations to build a strong learning culture and access the tools and support to address specific employee and organisational learning needs, operating in any type of humanitarian context.

We also support individuals, whether they are experienced humanitarians, or first-time volunteers, via our free global online learning platform, Kaya. It has more than 450 courses created by humanitarians, for humanitarians.

Our commitment is to:

  • Provide a range of quality, accessible and relevant learning opportunities to suit the needs of individuals
  • Strengthen the capacity of organisations to  prepare for and respond to crises
  • Influence and amplify the reach and quality of learning in the humanitarian sector
