Dispersal

NASS disperse asylum seekers to accommodation around the UK. Asylum seekers are not given a choice about where the accommodation is. Most asylum seekers who live in Glasgow applied to NASS in England and are in Glasgow because NASS dispersed them to accommodation here. In 2000, Glasgow became the biggest single dispersal destination in the UK.

The NASS contract was renewed in June 2006 for a further period of five years. The new contract however differs from the old in that only specific services can be provided.
