Determined team members complete Yorkshire Peaks Challenge…

Tuesday 8 September 2009

As mentioned by Chris in his latest post, the two team members who couldn’t make the first Yorkshire Peaks Training walk took on the challenge at the weekend.

After catching up with Rachel and Jess it sounds like their experience was quite different to ours. Strong winds and heavy rain made walking extremely difficult and turned some of the steep descents into slippery waterfalls! Despite this they managed to complete the challenge within the 12 hour target time which is a really great achievement.

Although everyone involved in the challenge is aware that weather conditions may effect us on the day it was very useful hearing from Rachel and Jess just how difficult this can make things and how important it is to wear/take the correct kit.

Our next big practice walk is this weekend when a team will be climbing Scafell Pike. This walk will not only be used to work on fitness but also to record walking pace to ensure we are able to hit the target split time required to complete the national challenge within the 24 hour period…….

Watch this space for an update!
