Save the Children and Morrisons have been working together since April 2011 to give UK children a better chance in life.
Thanks to the amazing generosity of staff and customers, Morrisons has raised over £6.2 million since 2011. This money is supporting our Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme in the UK. Morrisons has also responded to our emergency appeals for the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami and the food crises in east and west Africa and the recent Syria Crisis Appeal.
We're delighted that Morrisons has extended its charity partnership with Save the Children until the end of the 2013/2014 financial year.
Making a difference in Morrisons communities
By the end of 2013, Morrisons amazing support will have funded 119 new FAST programmes across all six Morrisons regions.
FAST brings families, schools and communities together to support disadvantaged children across the UK at a vital time in their development. Through strengthening these relationships, FAST helps to give the most disadvantaged children in the UK the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
“The fabulous thing about supporting the Families and Schools Together (FAST) programme is that we are able to see the difference we are making in the communities we operate in first hand. I have had the privilege of meeting the families whose lives we are helping to change.”
- Martyn Jones, Group Corporate Services Director, Morrisons
In addition to continuing to support the FAST programme in 2013, Morrisons will also be raising vital funds for our Eat, Sleep, Learn, Play! (ESLP!) programme, which will help even more of the most disadvantaged children in our communities.
Eat, Sleep, Learn, Play! helps families in the UK living in severe material deprivation to get the basic essentials they need for their children – a cooker to provide warm meals, a bed for a peaceful night’s sleep and books and toys to help children to learn and develop.
Uniting the business
Morrisons staff have been at the heart of our partnership from the very start. By taking on fundraising activities designed for the whole business to take part in, organising their own events and participating in Save the Children challenges, Morrisons staff are working together to achieve their goal of raising an additional £1 million for our UK work by February 2014.
Bespoke partnership activity
We’ve produced bespoke fundraising activities for Morrisons, designed to unite staff across the business. Thousands of Morrisons colleagues have taken part - baking and selling cupcakes during the Great British Cupcake Sale and clocking up miles in the active Miles for Smiles challenge. Their support has made this the biggest and most successful charity partnership Morrisons has ever had!
We’re thrilled that we’ve been able to offer staff at Morrisons the chance to see the difference their support is making to children in the UK by inviting them to visit FAST programmes in their local communities.
This unique experience has been a wonderful opportunity for Morrisons colleagues to see first-hand the change they're helping to make to some of the most disadvantaged children in the UK.
Engaging with customers
Save the Children receives amazing support from the customers at Morrisons who donate to our monthly bucket collections, support our emergency appeals in stores, purchase our charity merchandise and attend special Morrisons hosted events – such as the Born to Shine roadshows.
CRM campaigns and new charity products in stores will give Morrisons customers even more ways to support our partnership in 2013.
