Ikea

Creating sustainable change for children

Since 2005, IKEA and the IKEA Foundation have jointly become one of our largest global supporters, raising millions of pounds for our global programme work through cash and in-kind donations.

The collaboration between IKEA and Save the Children began in 1994 when we played an instrumental role in formulating IKEA’s code of conduct, The IKEA Way on Preventing Child Labour

What started as a fight against child labour in the supply chain developed into a broader commitment to create a better everyday life for many children.

Now, IKEA Foundation aims to improve opportunities for children and young people by funding holistic, long-term programmes that can create substantial, lasting change and enable them to take charge of their own future.

LET’S PLAY FOR CHANGE

The IKEA Foundation’s annual good cause campaign is one of the largest cause-related marketing schemes in the world. Thanks to funding from the campaign, from 2005 to 2015 we were able to implement 40 projects in 17 countries directly reaching over a million children in the eastern sections of Europe and in Asia.

Now known as Let’s Play for Change, the campaign highlights the power of play, as an essential component for children’s wellbeing. That’s why the IKEA Foundation has granted Є45 million to support and create awareness for the work led by Save the Children, Handicap International, Room to Read, War Child, Special Olympics and UNICEF to promote children’s rights to play and develop.

The Save the Children programme, I Play I Learn and I’m Safe, focuses on preventing unsafe migration of children in Ethiopia and Bangladesh by promoting protection, education and play for 60,000 children on the move.
