Aviva

Launched in November 2009, our partnership with Aviva forms the basis of the company’s Street to School initiative in India. The programme focuses on recognising that every child has the right to realise their potential.

The Street to School projects in Delhi and Kolkata facilitates the integration of younger children into mainstream schooling and offers vocational training to older children.

The Delhi programme launched in January 2010 with the opening of a drop-in centre for street children. The centre’s success has generated significant interest from the Delhi government and, with Aviva’s support, we have been able to open a second centre in the city, enabling us to reach even more children.

The highly successful Aviva Wall of Education book donation drive, has seen over one million books donated and distributed to street children through Save the Children and Aviva’s other local charity partners.

Aviva’s first global marketing campaign, You Are the Big Picture, ran from October to December 2010, and has generated £170,000 for our work in India. Thousands of people from around the world interacted with the campaign by donating their own photos to be projected onto iconic buildings across six major cities.

Following on from this success, Aviva is once again supporting Save the Children through You Are the Big Picture in 2011. Aviva is donating £2 for each photo uploaded and selected images will be projected on the National Theatre in London during October. This campaign will help fund two mobile learning centres in India, helping to get street children off the streets and back into education.
